Aston Hill Climb Centenary Celebration
Before the creation of specialist race tracks, many motor sports events would run on the public highway …such as the Hill at Aston Clinton between 1904 and 1925. Most of those famous events were run by HCAAC. One well-known winner was Lionel Martin, who later named his car the Aston Martin.
On 16th May 1925 a permit for the hill climb was withdrawn by the RAC, along with all other motor sport on the public highways.
In recent years, the law has reversed and we are planning a new event for May 2025 …with a permit issued 100 years later!
In-period cars & motorcycles will gather for a morning display in Aston Clinton, before driving out and then up the hill untimed at well-spaced intervals to a field beyond the old finish line. Here they will join an all-day concourse event with refreshments and many attractions for motor enthusiasts and other people with an interest in local history.
This will be a joint venture for the Herts County Auto & Aero Club, Vintage Sports Car Club and Aston Clinton Parish Council.
